From the origins of History, man has been under the seduction and fascination of alcohol. The Bible tells us how Noah discovered wine. The Greeks and the Romans created the Gods Dionysus and Bacchus to symbolize the product of the vineyard. The famous Vinalias where the best wines were offered to Jupiter and the bacchanals, with their frenetic bacchantes and their sensual fauns, where these gods were honored, have captivated the imagination of painters and sculptors of all times, thus creating around the growing of the vine and the making of wine, lovely and varied works of art. Writers and poets have also sung hymns in honor of wine and of the joy it brings to the heart of man, even going as far as to affirm that without wine things would only be what they are. Wine is of itself the expression of a refined culture.
Neither was Peruvian pre-Columbian man a stranger to the eager search for this mysterious liquid which has the virtue of banishing or at least, can make more bearable, hardships, and celebrate happy events. This pre-Columbian man also discovered alcohol. By fermenting maize juice he obtained an alcoholic beverage called "chicha", which today is still produced and consumed in some regions of Peru.
